About Us:
From April 1st 2001 this practice became a 'Personal Medical Services' (PMS) pilot.
The main ethos of operating under these new contractual arrangements is to reduce
bureaucracy (number counting and filling in unnecessary forms within the health
economy) and improve the services that the practice offers to our patients. The
three year pilot affords us greater flexibility in being able to focus on the needs
of our patients and tailor the delivery of care in the most efficient, responsive
and effective manner.
Our objectives for the pilot are :-
-
To increase accessibility of our services. For example, we recently introduced
two extra GP surgeries per week and in addition a weekly early morning surgery
(7.15am - 9am) and a late evening surgery (5pm - 7pm). Our web site also offers
online electronic repeat prescription requests.
-
To broaden the range of services available. We are currently running a pilot
of telemedicine for dermatology. Our coronary heart disease clinics are also
being improved.
-
To help patients adopt a healthier lifestyle. Intended projects include smoking
cessation classes, healthy heart clinics, incorporating exercise referral, diet
and nutrition etc.

-
Development of our branch surgery. The building of our brand new purpose built
branch surgery based at Beaconside will shortly be underway. In 2002 we will be
able to offer a full range of services from this site.
-
Increased patient involvement in our surgery. To help us assess how successful
we are in reaching our goals we do value your feedback. Thank you to everyone
who completed our recent survey, your comments have been useful, your continued
contributions to the practice will help us to deliver a better service to you
in the future.
